Who we are

Charlotte Music Club was established in 1925 and has been serving  the Charlotte community through  music for 100 years.

Charlotte Music Club strives To inspire a community of local musicians, and provide professional performances for our city and support local future music students with scholarships.

Each year, CMC invites anyone to join the Charlotte Music Club Choir and performance of Handel's Messiah.  This concert raises funds that are awarded to local music students to support their musical journey.

Lee Lanier-President CMC

Lee Lanier, President of the Charlotte Music Club, has 34 years of music teaching experience, with over 20 years in the Charlotte area. A former high school musician, she studied piano and voice in New York and performed on NC’s PTL Club. Lee earned her music degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she was a soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria and Porgy and Bess. She began her career as a school music teacher and worship leader in Florida before serving as a missionary in India and Hungary. After returning to the U.S., she married, homeschooled her three children, and taught private lessons while directing music at her church. Lee has chaired local music festivals, adjudicated piano and voice competitions, and sung with the Charlotte Music Club Community Choir for nearly a decade, including performances as a Messiah soloist. She currently teaches in her music studio and enjoys composing, songwriting, and singing with CMC.
